Big Spring Landfill

Halfway between El Paso and Fort Worth, Texas, lies the community of Big Spring, Texas. In 2014, MJE completed cell construction including excavation of 300,000 cubic yards of earthwork, subgrade preparation, geosynthetic liner, geomembrane liner, protective soil cover and leachate collection piping. All of this was completed on time and on budget while working…8 ½ hours from our home base.

Some might view a project 450 miles away from home as a challenge, but MJE saw an opportunity to extend our client base and improve our portfolio of large civil construction jobs. MJE completed this massive earthwork project that met TCEQ engineered standards all while managing subcontractors, multiple MJE crews, and making sure the project stayed on budget and on schedule.

Collaboration

Our location in Southwest Kansas centralizes our staff to work in a vast radius of over 500 miles in every direction. Daily communication with field crews, subcontractors and clients allowed our project managers to stay connected even when miles apart. Weekly onsite meetings with the owner also helped our team stay ahead of potential complications.
