Deer Creek Feeding, LLC

Beginning in 2010, MJE LLC began a partnership with Deer Creek Feeding in the Texas panhandle. The folks with Deer Creek had been cattlemen for many years but were new to the region and eager to grow their dairy calf feeding operation. In just 10 years, their operation has nearly quadrupled in size. Deer Creek needed a partner that could keep up with their needs and vision for the future. Hand in hand with MJE, Deer Creek was able to construct a state-of-the-art operation focused on industry best practices and efficiency.

Challenge

This project had two main challenges – how could MJE help Deer Creek grow while keeping budget considerations top-of-mind? How could MJE reassure a new partner that we can manage all aspects of a turnkey construction so they can focus on managing their business throughout construction? The project scope included many different elements to be completed in phases over the course of five years – including earthwork, concrete paving, plumbing, water pads, concrete walls and piers, building erection and fencing. Because the relationship was new, Deer Creek hired an outside engineer to help design the facility. MJE worked closely alongside many different stakeholders and kept everyone in the loop throughout the process.

Collaboration

Our approach was simple – MJE collaborated with Deer Creek to plan for future growth and used a phased approach that allowed the owners to capitalize on their investment incrementally. MJE takes our jobs as construction managers seriously, and our established relationships with area subcontractors and vendors made the process even easier. We value the time of owners and stakeholders – we manage construction so clients can focus on managing their business. MJE Livestock Equipment built and manufactured gates and custom vents for the entire project. Collaborating with our in-house manufacturing division ensures our clients get the best of the best when it comes to fencing, gates, and custom, American-made solutions.

Custom Solution

Project managers also worked closely with the team at MJE Livestock Equipment to manufacture 1,620 air vents in under 2 ½ weeks – an average of 124 vents per day. The timeline was tight, but by designing and manufacturing our own products, MJE can ensure quality and efficiency built to suit client needs.
