MJE Apprenticeship Program Kicks Off
MJE’s Registered Apprenticeship Program has officially launched, and the excitement is palpable as the first group of apprentices start their training. This program, aimed at developing skilled tradespeople in rural Kansas, is already yielding results, attracting both new talent and offering career growth to current employees.
A Welcoming Move to MJE
The program has drawn interest from near and far. Jack Lindsay, a new Welding Apprentice, relocated from Guymon, Oklahoma, to join the MJE team. His enthusiasm for the opportunity is a testament to the program’s ability to inspire skilled workers looking for a solid career path. “Moving here was an easy decision. MJE offers opportunities I couldn’t find anywhere else,” says Lindsay.
Advancing Careers and Gaining Skills
The apprenticeship program is an exciting way for current employees to elevate their careers. Saul Valles, a field luber for MJE, LLC, is transitioning into the diesel mechanic apprenticeship path and looking forward to building his existing skills with hands-on training and mentorship. Similarly, Brian Hernandez and Sergeo Martinez, both heavy equipment operators, are using the program to gain new skills and position themselves for leadership roles in the workforce.
Why it Matters
“This isn’t just about filling jobs; it’s about building futures. Jack, Saul, Brian, and Sergeo represent exactly why we started this program—to invest in people and ensure the success of our team and our company.”
– Heather Jantz, Chief Operating Officer and Owner
In partnership with Kansas Farm Bureau’s Rural Kansas Apprenticeship Program (RKAP), the program offers paid training, mentorship, and nationally recognized certifications in trades such as welding, heavy equipment operation, diesel mechanics, and more. These benefits attract talent and retain and develop the workforce needed for MJE’s continued growth.
Looking Ahead
As the apprentices settle into their roles, the program demonstrates the powerful impact of investing in people. The success of this first cohort is a promising start, setting the stage for MJE’s vision of fostering talent and supporting the rural workforce.
