Plainview Brine Pond Closure

This was a unique project that posed several challenges to the client – they had a brine pond full of semi-hard sludge material that made closure difficult.

Challenge

The project engineer had called for a geo-grid product to be placed over the sludge material to create enough stability for MJE earth moving equipment to complete the required earthwork to close the pond. The recommended construction method was costly to the customer and was very slow in production.

Collaboration

As the prime contractor on the project, MJE’s goal is always to provide the best solution for the customer at the best price. For this unique project, MJE teamed up with the project engineers and geo-liner experts to find a more economical solution.

Custom Solution

Through extensive research, MJE found an industry expert who had completed similar projects that included significant savings for the customer, in both money and time. In the end, the project included 400,000 SF of geogrid/geotextile/geomembrane, 100,000 CY of soil cover, and 40,000 CY of clay liner, all managed and constructed by MJE.
