The Power of Staying Put: Finding Happiness & Success on the High Plains

Throughout March, MJE has been introduced to more than 250 students across Southwest Kansas in many ways:

  • On-site guided tours through MJE Livestock Equipment & MJE,
  • Special hands-on presentations
  • Career fairs, and
  • One-on-one job-shadow opportunities.

Each of these sessions is specifically designed to introduce students to career opportunities available after graduation with MJE and other strong businesses on the High Plains. In addition, MJE provides scholarship/school pay-back opportunities to students interested in Welding and Diesel Mechanics. We are ready to spread the word to kids across Kansas that ‘It is okay to stay!”

Trade Up! – Specialized Skills Supercharge Careers at MJE

Learning a trade like welding or becoming a diesel mechanic can drastically improve the wage-earning potential for young Kansans. For example, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, skilled tradespeople have a 46% increase in earnings potential compared to those who do not learn a trade or go on to complete further education upon graduation from high school.

Welders for the Win – Spark Success with Trade School

MJE employs field welders who travel with our construction crews to assist on job sites with fence building, building construction, and more. Welders at MJE Livestock Equipment bring revolutionary designs to life that enhance cattle comfort while increasing ranch profitability for ranchers. On-the-job training is available, but taking classes and learning the latest techniques can improve the products and services we provide to our clients, so MJE and LE encourage our welders to take classes whenever possible.

Get your Career in Gear – Deisel Mechanics Keep Projects Running

With over 450+ pieces of heavy equipment, the service and maintenance of heavy equipment are crucial to the success of MJE. Our mechanics and lubers are highly-skilled professionals who can use hands-on skills and technical applications from equipment manufacturers to diagnose and solve various issues for our fleet. In addition, regular maintenance keeps equipment safe and operable for our crews.

Want to go to school but aren’t sure how to pay for it? Let us help!

MJE offers a unique scholarship opportunity to students looking to advance their careers upon graduation. The format is simple –

  1. Choose a school. Our philosophy is that YOU know the best school and program for your interests and desires.
  2. Contact our HR Department. Our HR director, Shannon Coleman, will work with you to develop a pay-back program that works for you and your needs.
  3. Work hard and finish your program.
  4. Come to work for MJE!

It’s really that simple – if you want to live and work in Southwest Kansas and become a part of the MJE team, we will find a way to make it happen for you.

No Degree? No Problem! Lucrative jobs are available for every skill level!

Not all students seek a path to college or trade school upon graduation, which is okay! Lucrative jobs are available for students looking to join the workforce directly after high school. MJE and LE take pride in offering on-the-job training for heavy-equipment operators, fabricators, and many more positions. Given the right training, the right person can do big things on the job and in the field. For us, the right person is more important than the right background. The backgrounds of MJE and LE employees are incredibly diverse, but our mission is unified – we want to provide our customers with high-quality products and services they can depend on for years to come.

Experience the Possibilities! Tours & Job Shadow Opportunities

Seeing is believing, and we have an open-door policy for students. If you are a student with interest in any of the careers at MJE or MJE Livestock Equipment, we can arrange a full day of job shadowing where you can experience what working for our company is like.

Local teachers are encouraged to set up on-site tours & job-shadow days with Megan Elsey, Public Relations Director, by emailing her – at megan@mjellc.net or calling (620)846-2634 to schedule it now.

It’s okay to stay! There are advantages to staying local.

Southwest Kansas is thriving and growing. Over the last few years, MJE and MJE Livestock Equipment have continued to grow. We also have relationships with other local businesses that provide excellent career options to Kansas Kids. There are many advantages to staying local instead of moving away after graduation – stay tuned to our social media to learn more!
